While the electricity is on the incubator automatically charges the battery. As soon as the electricity goes off then the incubator gets it's power from the battery. The incubator does this automatically - no need to go and start a generator!

Think of it as almost like a cellphone - once you charge the battery full you can use it while the electricity is off until the battery dies.
